The word Homeopathy is derived from two Greek words “homoios” means ‘’Similar and “Pathos” means “Suffering” or “Disease” (1, 2). Homeopathy is an alternative system of therapeutics introduced by Samuel Hahnemann in 1796. It is based on the principle of “Similia Similibus Curantur” (Let like be cured by Like) which is the basic law of Homeopathy (3, 4). Holistic Medicine is the term used to describe a variety of therapies including Homeopathy, Naturopathy, Spiritual Healing, and Traditional Healing. It deals with the patient as a whole person and believes on the complex relation of physical, mental, emotional, social, and environmental factors of an individual as a whole (5).

By the term wholeness we mean fulfillment, as far as possible, of the unique potential of each individual and this is what we call integration, the bringing together into a balanced and interactive whole of all our faculties, attributes, characteristics including physical, emotional, intellectual, psychic and spiritual. Homeopathy is thereby a true example of wholeness and an invaluable tool for exploring the nature of the patient as a whole. We all do believe that human nature is made up of three familiar dimensions, including Mind- Body, and Soul, along with their key components. The idea of personal wholeness means the interdependent, interpenetrating, and interactive relationship of Mind, Body, and Soul (6). Homeopathy is said to be the form of Holistic Medicine in the sense that whole person is taken into consideration including his emotional state, physical symptoms, personal attributes, temperature sense, food desires, aversions, appetite, thirst  and sleep habits  while

choosing the most appropriate remedy for him(7). Though the Holistic model of Homeopathy is based on the comprehension of the totality of symptoms; however, effective communication needs to be developed for the active participation of the patient during the consultation (8). A homeopathic consultation is a wonderful experience of the wholeness both for the patient and for the practitioner in getting the awareness of the infinite variety and wonder of human nature (6). Dr. Samuel Hahnemann (founder of Homeopathy) emphasized that beyond the totality of symptoms, there is nothing discoverable in diseases which guides us in the choice of remedy (9).

Homeopathy perceives the individual as an integrated entity and not only the collection of body parts(10). Hahnemann, Kent, Vithoulkas and many other true Homeopaths gave utmost importance to the individualistic expressions at a holistic level, the level where mind and body are connected and speak the same language. A Similimum selected at the holistic level is known to effect innumerable miracle, in fact, it is the one key which can unlock anything in Homeopathy (11).
